Five years after the acclaimed album A Plane Over Woods, The Vernon Spring comes to Nefertiti for a very special evening.

Behind The Vernon Spring is London-born pianist and composer Sam Beste, whose music moves between jazz, ambient, soul and electronic music.

Beste’s musical history is impressive. He was Amy Winehouse’s live pianist for much of her career, and has since worked with MF DOOM, Gabriels, Beth Orton, Kano, Joy Crookes, Matthew Herbert and Kendrick Lamar producer Sounwave.

Released in 2021, A Plane Over Woods firmly established The Vernon Spring’s distinctive expression: beautiful, understated and cinematic, bringing improvised piano together with subtle electronics and fragments of soul and ambient.

Since then, he has continued to explore that musical world through releases including Earth, On A Good Day and, most recently, Under a Familiar Sun.

On 1 April, we celebrate five years of A Plane Over Woods with The Vernon Spring at Nefertiti. An intimate evening with one of the UK’s most exciting pianists and composers.
