In recent years, Baba Stiltz has devoted more and more time to his guitar playing and a direct connection with the audience. With a stripped-back, uncompromising approach, he has reduced his live performances to the essentials: guitar, amplifier and voice.

Drawing on Eugene Chadbourne’s free improvisations, Spacemen 3’s hypnotic repetition and country music’s storytelling, half-spoken vocals, Stiltz makes music that feels immediate and disarmingly honest.

At a time when aesthetics and atmosphere often take centre stage, his direct, unfiltered expression feels both refreshing and gently challenging. Maybe it is country. Maybe it is something else entirely.
